Jan Esman is a trusted advisor and leading consultant with more than 30 years of hands‑on leadership experience delivering technology‑enabled business improvement across industries, including government, utilities, telecommunications, finance, manufacturing, retail, and industrial services. Known for his ability to translate ambitious visions into actionable strategies, Jan partners with clients to design digital operating models, enterprise solutions, and transformation programs that deliver measurable organisational outcomes.

At CTO Consulting, Jan provides strategy and digital advisory services with a focus on business architecture, data, and technology‑enabled solutions that drive lasting value. He has successfully led programs spanning ERP implementations, enterprise content management, digital workplace strategies, and complex integration initiatives. Jan’s client engagements include developing digital architecture strategies for Skinstitut, guiding Brickworks through a modernisation of core systems, and leading a $24 million ECM program for Sydney Water that created new enterprise search and knowledge‑sharing capabilities.

Earlier in his career, Jan served as National Director of Digital Advisory at Oakton/NTT, where he led high‑profile strategies for major government agencies, including the Australian Sports Institute and Defence Housing, and advised leading organisations such as Toll, GPT, Arab Bank, and multiple universities on digital transformation, governance, and compliance. He has managed teams of more than 400 people and budgets exceeding $700 million, consistently delivering outcomes that improved agility, efficiency, and business performance.

Jan holds an MBA from AGSM and a Bachelor of Engineering from UNSW.
