Meet David Hartwig

David Hartwig brings over 40 years of experience in technology leadership, specialising in enterprise and solution architecture for federal government agencies. He has built a reputation for introducing new technologies, frameworks, and processes into complex environments, ensuring alignment with enterprise strategies and industry best practices.

At CTO Consulting, David initially served as Enterprise and Solution Architecture Lead for the National Criminal Intelligence System (NCIS), guiding a team of architects, shaping platform roadmaps, and advising senior leadership on cloud strategy, security, and system performance. He has since transitioned to the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW), where he is analysing and advising on the decommissioning of the former DoEE legacy environment, addressing complex dependencies and supporting the department’s move toward a more modern, secure, and sustainable technology landscape. 

David’s career has spanned many of Australia’s most high-profile ICT programs, from the Costigan Royal Commission through to Medicare, DSS, and NDIS systems, where he has overseen the modernisation of legacy platforms and the adoption of enterprise architecture tools such as HOPEX and Unicom System Architect.

Known for his pragmatic approach, collaborative style, and depth of technical expertise, David empowers teams to deliver fit-for-purpose solutions while preparing organisations for the constant change of the technology landscape.
